The Applause Is Not the Problem

The applause isn’t the problem.

The problem is when praise becomes payment for unsustainable leadership.

Too many high-capacity women are rewarded for:

  • always showing up
  • fixing problems
  • carrying emotional weight
  • stabilizing systems
  • responding immediately
  • holding everything together

But eventually the real question is: Who is holding the leader?

Competence can hide depletion.

And institutions often mistake resilience for unlimited capacity.

Sustainable leadership takes more than recognition. It takes:

  • structural support
  • protected boundaries
  • redistributed labor
  • emotional sustainability
  • space for restoration

Because meaningful leadership should not require self-erasure.

Learn. Lead. Luminate. Love.
